Recognition by our peers is a very special moment in life.  There are many outstanding and often unsung professionals in our midst and we have several opportunities for celebrating them.  All it takes is for someone to care enough to prepare a nomination or application for them. 

Art Schock Award - Deadline May 1, 2026 

Awarded to a member of NYAPT who has demonstrated their ability to communicate and to teach or share information with colleagues and the public in ways that further the mission and cause of the association and the industry and profession.

Awarded to an individual who has been a member of NYAPT and who has made significant contributions to the association and the profession that have made a clear and distinct difference in terms of child safety, education, or other related accomplishments.

Adult School Transportation Education Scholarship - 

One scholarship award sponsored by PTSI is available for adult school transportation professionals who wish to enhance their careers by becoming a 19-A examiner or an SBDI.  Application deadline is May 1, 2026.

NYSIR Conference Scholarship - Deadline May 1, 2026 

The NY School Insurance Reciprocal offers five $1,000 scholarships to five first-time attendees to the Annual Conference.  These are managed through the NYAPT Awards Committee and cover conference registration, annual membership fees and three nights’ lodging for the conference.

Leonard Family Scholarship 

*Deadline  Monday, April 1,  2026 

The Leonard Bus family has offered a scholarship opportunity to students whose parents or grandparents are active NYAPT members and employed in the school transportation profession.  The scholarships focus primarily on students who seek to pursue a 2-year or 4-year education in auto and bus mechanics, and diesel mechanics, but any course of study will be considered.
