The Cyr Foundation for Excellence in School Transportation joined the New York Association for Pupil Transportation in announcing the winners of the 2012 School Bus Safety Poster Contest. The winning entries were judged and selected during the 2012 New York Annual School Transportation Conference in July in Saratoga Springs.
The Poster Contest promotes school bus safety by engaging school students in designing and completing posters that contain a safety theme. The theme for the 2012 Poster Contest was “Stand Back from the Yellow and Black.” Students compete in four divisions: Kindergarten-second grade, third-fifth grade, sixth-eighth grade, and special needs students. There is also a new ‘computer aided design’ category for students to enter.
The posters entered at the state level are those that are judged and selected by NYAPT Chapters across the state. Winners receive cash prizes and the first place winners are entered in the national poster competition conducted by the National Association for Pupil Transportation.
The winners in each division in 2012 are as follows:
DIVISION I (K-2)

DIVISION II (3-5)
First Place: Regina Guitierrez Baldwin UFSD

DIVISION III (6-8)
First Place: Jennifer Li Patchogue-Medford SD
Second Place: Margaret Wang Monroe-Woodbury CSD
Third Place: Nga Ruckdeschel South Seneca CSD
DIVISION IV (Special Needs)
First Place: Ryan Murad Eagle Avenue Middle School
Second Place: Brandon S Syracuse City SD/Elmerest
Third Place: James Cobb Keshequa CSD
