Each year, the Committees of our association prepare a report to the Membership regarding activities in which they engaged and services they completed for the members. 2010 Election Results
ELECTION OF OFFICERS:
On July 12, 2010, during the NYAPT/Cyr Trade Show, NYAPT Active members elected officers for the association. As a result of the elections, our new officers are::

President-elect: Richard Gallagher, Bay Shore UFSD
Vice-President: Anthony Quaranta, Owego-Apalachin CSD
Treasurer: Donna Hackett, Pembroke CSD

BY LAWS AMENDMENT APPROVED:
Active Members also approved an amendment to the NYAPT by-laws. The amended By-laws are posted on the ORGANIZATION page.
Promotional Presentation: NYAPT
PRESENTATION:
The NYAPT Communications Committee invested a lot of time and ideas over the past year in developing a brief PowerPoint presentation that would explain the value and benefits of membership in NYAPT. This PowerPoint is available for your use at the chapter level, with PTAs and school boards and other venues.
Members of the Executive Committee and the Communications Committee as well as our Executive Director are also available to assist in making presentations using the PowerPoint as a basis. Please do not hesitate to inquire about a presentation.

Benefits of Membership
Membership Categories
The New York Association for Pupil Transportation membership structure currently includes the following membership categories:
Any person who is engaged in the administration or supervision of pupil transportation, or any individual bestowed Life Membership by action of the Board of Directors
Any person not eligible as an active individual member, who is interested in, engaged in or associated with any phase of pupil transportation
Any person who has previously held active membership as defined in subsection (a) of this section but has officially retired from the active practice of school transportation management such employment. Such individuals shall enjoy all the benefits of membership but may not vote, run for office in the association, or submit amendments to the by-laws. (proposed)
Any business, corporation, organization or other association which wishes to support the purpose of this association and the pupil transportation industry in New York State by sponsoring through monetary donations and receiving in return advertising and recognition at various functions of this association as deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee and Board of directors.
Any member, past or present, who has contributed meritorious service to pupil transportation. Any individual who has served as President of the association is automatically entitled to Life Member status. Eligibility for life member status shall be based upon nomination by majority vote of the appropriate standing committee and confirmation by a majority vote of the Board of Directors present at any regular or special meeting of the association. Life members shall be entitled to retain active membership and the benefits deriving therefrom, except that they may not serve as an officer of the association.
Any person who has contributed meritorious service to pupil transportation. Eligibility for Honorary Member status shall be based upon nomination by majority vote of the appropriate standing committee and confirmation by majority vote of the Board of Directors present at any regular, special or emergency meeting of the association.
Chapters and Chapter Activities
There are twenty chapters – or local/regional affiliates – associated with NYAPT. These chapters actually served as the foundation for NYAPT when NYAPT was originally founded. Chapter members and leaders came together to form a statewide association that would be a source for education and advocacy on important issues. These twenty chapters form a network for school transportation officials to share and learn and assist one another with local needs and issues, and they also serve as a sounding board for ideas and positions for the state association.
